In June 2016, concerns were mounting at Blimp Rock head office about the potential impact a blimp concert could have on the bird population.

Like planes, blimps have large propellers that can sometimes injure and even kill birds.

Looking to make a positive contribution to the ornithological community, Blimp Rock donated the proceeds from their 2016 summer tour to construct “The Bird Blimp."
Lead singer Peter Demakos detailed the project in a June 2016 interview with CBC Newfoundland.

Unfortunately, The Bird Blimp, which was intended to be tethered to a pub for birds in Newfoundland, was never built due to the band only raising $11 on tour.
Within a year, the pub for birds (known as Junco's Pub) closed its doors.
